Resin bound aggregate comes in varied colours and produces a continuous finish that can work well with block borders. There are no loose stones to rake back into place. Its reasonably even texture can make day-to-day sweeping straightforward. The limitations
A resin bound surface depends on proper base preparation and correct mixing and laying. If the base moves, the finished layer can crack or fail. Damage can be repaired, but a patch may differ in colour or texture from weathered surrounding material. Shaded or damp areas still need cleaning, and a surface that looks smooth should not be assumed to be maintenance-free.
Check the terminology in every quote. Resin bound aggregate is mixed with resin before laying. Resin bonded surfacing is produced differently and is generally not permeable. Is resin right for your property?
It may suit a homeowner who values a decorative, relatively even finish and is happy to pay for the right preparation. If the existing driveway has substantial movement or poor levels, expect the quote to address reconstruction rather than assume a quick overlay.
